A lot has changed in just over a decade, particularly the decrease in certain subcultures, and as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve the idea of the rawr’ing twenties began to circulate.
Why the rawr’ing twenties? Because rawr means I love you in dinosaur, of course.
Rewind back to 2009, a time when Instagram ceased to exist and the term ‘influencer’ was unheard of. The scene and Myspace culture were at its peak. Jeffree Star was known for his music and collaboration with duo Blood on the Dance floor opposed to his cosmetic lines, wearing Vans posed the risk of being branded a Emo and the popular fashion mantra ‘less is more’ definitely didn’t apply.
To gain more of an insight into the almost forgotten trend, we spoke to Sophie Tait, a once dedicated and avid follower of Scene fashion:
